A Spirit of Giving: Finding Beauty in Generosity

Who comes to mind when you think of someone who is generous? How does that person make you feel?

Examples of Generosity

I have a friend who is not only generous in giving gifts that make you feel special but is also generous in her encouragement and her time. She is a light and a blessing to be around.

The ultimate example of generosity is Jesus Christ. What more of a generous gift than laying down one’s life for another. Christ laid down His life so that we might have life.

Verses on Generosity

1 Timothy 6:17-19 says, “As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.”

Generosity Brings Life

Generosity is beautiful and can make the giver feel life and joy. In our world which seems to be consumed with self, a simple generous act may be the bright spot someone needs in their day. Generosity does not have to be in the form of finances. It can be a kind word, a smile, or a simple selfless act. Not only will generosity bring life to you, it can bring life to another.

Giving Thanks

Today we can give thanks to our God for His generosity to us…for His love and selfless sacrifice so that we may have life. We can gives thanks for those in our lives who have shown generosity to us, and we can trust and open our eyes and hearts to see opportunities to be generous to others.
